Gartner's Magic Quadrant for PC Life Cycle Configuration Management

A report published in the last few weeks by Gartner provides their independent assessment of the PC Life Cycle Configuration Management space. The report, entitled "PC Life Cycle Configuration Management, 2006”, discusses the vendor landscape for automating PC management from deployment to retirement. As infrastructure consultants, this is a key focus area for both us and our customers and partners - it presents huge opportunity to drive down IT costs, and gain good return on investment in management tools. There's some pretty cool technology to play with too :-)

In this report, Microsoft is now positioned in the leader’s quadrant - this underlines the big improvements in SMS2003, the benefits of AD and GPO, and the value of recent acquisitions such as Softricity, AssetMetrix and SysInternals.
