  The connection point is not used by anything within Commerce Server. It's only purpose in life is to identify a computer within AD has having Commerce Server installed. You can safely ignore the failure and continue with configuration. -Max

  A question on the Commerce Server 2007 installation guide: Under Step 4: Add CSLOB account to the authorization roles Paragraph numbered 8. Instruction b reads: "Right-click ProfilesAdapter, and then click Assign Windows Users and Groups." The text reads "ProfilesAdapter". Should it read "ProfileAdministrator" instead? The only role I can find is "ProfileAdministrator" - there is apparently no role "ProfilesAdapter". Thanks Giles

  WOW good catch. You are right it should be ProfileAdministrator. I have talked to our UE and they are going to open a bug to address it. -Max

  Further installation problems. Wonder if it's a bug again? Under the section "Grant Web Applications and Window Services Access to the Databases", I completed the very laborious Step 2: "Associate the SQL database accounts with the database roles in SQL Server". Now whenever I try to connect using SQL server Management Studio I receive: "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)" From what I can tell, the SQLSvc no longer has permission to start up service "SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER)". What's caused that? Is it a known issue? Thanks in advance Giles

  If I have understood the documented processes correctly I think I have another one for you Max. This is more a minor inconsistency than a bug, but it could confuse. It is in your "Commerce Server 2007 Starter Site Installation Guide". Under the section "Assign Permissions to the IIS Worker Process Accounts" In "Step 1: Create application pools for the Web services", you talk about the following application pools: StarterSiteAppPool ssCtlgWebSvcAppPool ssMktgWebSvcAppPool ssOrdWebSvcAppPool ssProfWebSvcAppPool You also refer to them in Step 2. But then, two sections further on in "Step 4: Assign the applications to the application pools", the documentation refers to them as: ssStarterSiteAppPool ssCtlgWebSvcAppPool ssMktgWebSvcAppPool ssOrdWebSvcAppPool ssProfWebSvcAppPool And just above that it says "For example, for StarterSite, select the application pool ssStarterSiteAppPool." If I understand the process correctly, references to "StarterSiteAppPool" and "ssStarterSiteAppPool" in the different sections actually refer to the same entity. Perhaps you'd be good enough to confirm? Thanks Giles

  Good morning Max! Im from Colombia..im new in CS 2007 and have a problem with the StarterSite Installation. I complete all steps from the guide and then i try to see the startersite in the explore but i cannot. In the event viewer say. A failure was encountered while launching the process serving application pool 'ssStarterSiteAppPool'. The application pool has been disabled. Can you help me?
