VOIP shouldn't mean 'rip and replace'
With many voice over IP or IP PBX deployments, in order to deploy the new technology you first need to remove what is there there currently. This may be ok if you acquired your PBX several years ago and already have money set aside in your budget, but this is not always the case with most organisations so does that mean you can't have Unified Communications or VOIP .... of course not!
Perhaps what needs to happen is for you to build on your existing communications infrastructure and 'breath new life' into your PBX. I am therefore pleased to share with you an important announcement around PBX interoperability with OCS.
Since launching the PBX interoperability specification for OCS 2007 two months ago, 12 industry leaders including Avaya, Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ericsson, Genesys, Mitel, NEC and Nortel and three gateway vendors (AudioCodes, Dialogic, Quintum) have stated their support for interop between their solutions and OCS 2007.
This is excellent news and means that most organisations who are not yet in a position to upgrade their PBX can use our Unified Communications solution alongside their existing PBX investment. Now there is almost no reason why you couldn't deliver the new world of Unified Communications to your workforce!
