Live Mesh still in Tech Preview, but ready for more users

Our forum announcement from yesterday got a lot of people talking (more).  We just updated the forum post to clarify exactly what's going on, but I want to explain here as well.  This week we did two things:

  1. Doubled the maximum number of users we'll allow to access the Live Mesh Technology Preview.
  2. Simplified the Tech Preview sign-up process.  We've removed the requirement to sign up via Microsoft Connect, so that instead you can sign up directly from www.mesh.com.

We'll continue to listen to your feedback (keep it coming!), add features, and open up for more Live Mesh users over time.  And we'll have plenty to say to developers about the platform at PDC.

Pretty cool, just found this through a news article saying it was available to everyone. When will you include this in the Live.com "start menu"?  I like to check out a lot of the new technologies that are being developed for online, but I can never find them.  Could they be moved to a submenu on the Start menu entitled "Tech Preview" or something like that?

Just tried mesh.com 5 minutes ago - requirement to sign up via Microsoft Connect is still intact. All signing process is very very confusing. It's let's you Agree to T&C, sign-up via Microsoft Connect and at the end is saying "Sorry, no room for you buddy!".

Awesome job on LiveMesh, guys! It looks like it'll be an amazing platform! Can you give us an ETA on the Windows Mobile client? I can't wait to include My Sprint Touch in my mesh!

@ Sarah Perez I'm afraid we're not quite ready to commit to a timeframe for the Mac client yet. @ walkair You may wish to visit our forums (http://forums.community.microsoft.com/en/LiveMesh); we have a fairly active support community there.

I've been testing Live Mesh for only 2 days and one of the things that I would like to see in coming releases is the capability to see messages when a person that shares a folder modifies/updates a file (instead of the News option). Maybe a pop-up window like when a person has already signed in to Live Messenger. Greetings from Mexico.
