Perspectives for Success at Microsoft.

Yesterday - Glenn Pereira, my boss started our team meeting - with a cliched question - "So why do you come to work everyday..." This brought forth very cliched responses of "challenges" etc etc.... and some funnies like "My car is not yet paid off...." or "To give you a hard time, Glenn..."

But the perspectives slide that Glenn had were very relevant to how work is done in our teams here - and even how I thought I personally live my life - even before Microsoft that I thought I should share it here.

Why I come to work - Glenn said is for only 2 things:

a) Results and Positive Impact - For Company, Customers and WWESS

b) To Learn, Accomplish & Enjoy - Gain skills/perspectives/experiences, Do something different better faster everyday and Make friends while having fun.

In my mind point B is a required pre-requisite to achieve point A. Pretty much how a lot of our teams work here - and why we spend our insane hours - working to have fun!

So ofcourse coming out of that meeting - I immediately took his advice to heart and pulled Sassan for a 15 mins Pingpong shoot out :)
