Windows Client Webinar Learning Series

Here are two webinars by our Windows Client Specialist in the next couple weeks:

Why Windows Devices are the Best for Education

Thursday, March 20th at 10:00 am (Pacific Time)

Speaker: Cameron Evans

Across the United States, educators are pursuing some form of a 1:1 student-computing initiative that leverages the pervasiveness of cloud computing and the advent of low-cost devices. With so many low-cost devices to choose from, an important question remains. Does the device we choose for teaching and learning matter?   In this webinar we’ll discuss the importance of device considerations in view of task design for teaching and learning. We’ll review the broad device ecosystem—including non-Microsoft devices—and explain why Windows devices provide for superior competency development towards college and career readiness.  At the session’s conclusion, we will provide you with some criteria to support optimal decision-making for your school's transformation to modern learning.

Getting Started: Migrating from Windows XP in Education

Tuesday, March 25th at 12:00 pm (Pacific Time)

Speaker: Tyler Farmer

In April 2014 Windows XP will reach end-of-life and will no longer be supported by Microsoft.  It is critical that institutions migrate from Windows XP as soon as possible so they can continue to deliver a great learning environment and avoid disruptions to their academic institution’s operations.

In this seminar we will walk through the right way to begin moving your systems from Windows XP to Windows 7 or Windows 8 by using the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) to create your “golden” image.  From there we will demonstrate how to deploy that image to your workstations.   This is an introductory session on MDT.
