Server 2008 Developer Training Kit (Beta 3)
The Windows Server 2008 Developer Training Kit includes a set of hands-on-labs and presentations for technologies like IIS7, Management, WCF, WF, Windows CardSpace, Windows PowerShell, Virtualization and the Transactional File System (TxF). The content was created by the Developer & Platform Evangelism group.
The kit is designed for developers to learn how to build applications targeting Server 2008 technologies, but the kit can also be installed on Vista, XP, and Server 2003. The hands-on labs and most of the technologies also apply to Vista.
The hands-on labs are based on the DinnerNow sample application. The entire source code for the DinnerNow Sample Application can be downloaded from Codeplex, although the sample is not required for using the developer training kit.
What is DinnerNow?
DinnerNow is a fictitious marketplace where customers can order food from local restaurants for delivery to their home or office. This sample application is designed to demonstrate how you can develop a connected application using several new Microsoft technologies, including: IIS7, ASP.NET Ajax Extensions, Linq, Windows Communication Foundation, Windows Workflow Foundation, Windows Presentation Foundation, Windows Powershell, and the .NET Compact Framework.
The entire source code for the DinnerNow.net sample application is provided as a download so you can learn how these technologies can be used within an scenario-based application.
