Learn to Write C# by creating games with DigiPen
DigiPen Institute of Technology has webcast series on creating video games using DirectX 9.0 and .NET Framework 2.0. Their series covers sound effects, sprites, sprite behaviors, basic overview, and collision detection. You don’t need a programming background to follow the videos, which a smart 7th grader could digest.
DigiPen is a school just north of Microsoft main campus in Redmond, Washington, offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in computer science instruction as it applies to real-time interactive simulation programming, computer engineering and 3D computer animation. They also have a fabulous summer program: Project Fun Workshops, for kids ages 11 and up, which my son looks forward to each year:
- Junior Game Developer Workshop
- Video Game Programming Workshop - Level One
- Video Game Programming Workshop - Level Two
- Video Game Programming Workshop - Level Three
- 3D Animation Workshop - Level One
- 3D Animation Workshop - Level Two
- Robotics Workshop - Level One
