Free AT&T 8525 Pocket PCs for Microsofties

The price just doesn’t get better than free, especially when the device is this awesome. I just picked up a couple of AT&T 8525 Mobile Devices for myself and my son. My husband and daughter are still deciding if they want the extra weight in their pockets. It is a little bulky for those who are only interested in making phone calls.

 

You do have to sign up for the two year data plan but it’s heavily discounted for MS employees. Unlike the iPhone, this one is 3G-enabled.   I was an existing AT&T (Cingular) customer so I upgraded to the unlimited data plan and signed up for 2 years at $23 per month ($39 for non-Microsoft employees).  I traded in two phones old phones I already had for two free 8525s.  The phones I traded in were not eligible for upgrades but with this special it didn't matter.  I still got the phones free.  I did this on two different nights with two different sales people at the AT&T store in Bell Square.  The sales people were amazingly wonderful (Carly and Christina).  If you go to the Premier site and look at special offers you can see the offer.  Another person in my group got the same deal. The deal is the same if you order online or in the store, although you get an additional $25 off if you order online I think.

  But still in some buildings in the campus (especially 40-45) AT&T has very bad coverage and T-Mobile it better...

  This is true.  The AT&T coverage at my house (2 miles south of main campus is bad, but a new tower is going in a block away that will improve the situation.  (My husband has T-Mobil and it's no better for him at home.) Apparently all new towers in Bellevue and Redmond will serve both T-Mobil and AT&T from now on.   I'm in 41 and the AT&T coverage is wonderful, but there are 2 holes between my house and main campus where my phone dies for about a block.  I guess things can only get better...

  I love my 8525. I paid $150 for it which isn't quite as good as free, but much better than the $399 they want to charge, or the price on an iPhone.

  Hmm, looks like I am not that lucky :( The promotion for MSFT's ended on 06/25. Did you buy it before that? Currently it's going for $299.99.

  That's unlucky.  But I bought my two phones on 6/27 and 6/28 and they said in the store they thought the promotion would last at least another week.
