IE9 Site Pinning at your favorite sites

 

Lots of good stuff going on with Site Pinning. And our DPE team has been working to promote this set of capabilities to our customers. Here’s some of the partners that have implemented site pinning with our team (DPE Central Region Innovation):

• Groupon, coupons galore
• The Killers, music
• Pizza Hut, pizza
• Nuts About Southwest, Southwest Airlines blog
• SuperPages, search
• Bible Gateway, Biblical search, references, and commentary
• Mall of America, a well known mall in the USA
• Gluten Freely, gluten and dietary topics
• We have more coming, but can’t talk about these until they are in production and customer approved

Others that you can install today:

• Facebook, social

• Slacker, personal radio

• Discovery Channel, educational TV

• WSJ, news

• Hulu, video

• Bing, search

• MSN, news, social, etc.

And just to clarify – any site can be pinned in IE9. But, there are a variety of experiences out there, and I list these in my personal order of importance:

• nothing but a taskbar button and branded chrome (nothing done on site).
• static jump list
• dynamic jump list
• notifications (overlay icons, flashing the taskbar button)
• thumbnail toolbar

The sites that I list above leverage static jump lists, at a minimum.
