What you missed at TechEd about MOM and SMS
At TechEd itself you missed a free copy of SMS 2003, MOM 2005 Express, and Services for Unix, and at the MOM party you missed... Jessica Simpson ?!?
Oh, there was some news about management packs and online demos and such, but really, you should go read about them on Bob Roudebush's blog. I'm still trying to get my head around our marketing team's unique juxtaposition of MOM and Jessica Simpson. One emphasizes management, control, and stability, and the other one... doesn't.

MOM is essentially an information-gathering tool for a datacenter - it collects and filters events from your servers and gives you the "big picture" of how healthy things are. SMS is a software-management tool for your desktops - it lets you roll out applications and patches to just the PCs that need them.
