Lync 2013 basic client removes all telephony settings that were set using the Office 2013 Lync full client
Issue:
Lync 2013 basic client removes all the telephony settings like call forwarding, Simring that were set using the Office 2013 Lync full client
Assessment :
- User A sets call forwarding option to his Delegate User B using the Lync 2013 full client
- User A then logs in to the Lync 2013 basic client
- Lync 2013 basic client does not show the call forwarding settings at all ( as these features are not supported by the basic client )
- Later User A logs in to the Lync 2013 full client and finds out that the settings have been removed altogether
Lync 2013 Basic client does not support the below features :
- Advanced call features (not available with all Office 365 subscriptions); advanced call features include team ring, call forwarding, simultaneous ring, voice mail, call park, call delegation, response groups, and remote call control
- Calendar delegation
- Gallery video view
- OneNote sharing
- Recording
- Skill search (not available with Office 365)
- Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) (not available with Office 365)
Conclusion:
This issue is been escalated to Microsoft but there is no fix at this point. We have advised our customers to distribute Lync Full client for Enterprise Voice enabled users.
