Windows Phone Camps (Boston, Burlington, New Paltz, and more!)

Another update, an additional stop at the University of Rochester on November 15th has been added. The registration link is now available at https://mangowp7rochester.eventbrite.com/.

Note, there has been a date change for the New Paltz, NY location. The event will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011.

Welcome to Mango-mania!  A wave of free Windows Phone Camps along the East Coast kicks off on Tuesday, the 20th in Charlotte, North Carolina.  These are one-day events covering how to develop applications for Windows Phone.   Sessions will include an overview of the development platform, new features of the 7.5 (Mango) release, and discussions of how to monetize your applications.  The day will end with an open lab, hands-on session where you can turn your great ideas into reality and submit your app to the marketplace (and perhaps even win a prize or a Windows Phone!).

For developers of applications for iOS and Android, it’s a great opportunity to expand your offering (and profits!) to a new platform, and of course, there will be plenty of experts on hand to answer questions.

Note, that a special two-day event will be held in Boston, on October 12th and 13th; the entire second day is a hands-on session for developing apps, with the bonus of a few lightning talks by community members who have built successful apps for the Windows Phone marketplace.  You can attend either or both days, but do sign up for each individually.

Below are the registration links for the complete list of venues; Northeast stops are in bold.  Be sure to register quickly as space is limited.

Ricardo, the US is split into three regions for events such as these, so my post covers a series being run in the East Region, which I am part of.  Check out MSDN Events (msdnevents.com) or contact your local evangelist to see what events may be planned for your area.

It would be good if you guys could setup these camps over the weekends so that people who cannot take off during the week can attend during the weekends.

One correction for you guys.  The event in Burlington Vermont has a typo.  Champlain College is spelled Champlain, not Champlaign.  Anyway, I am amazed that you guys are actually coming up to Vermont, I didn't think many software organizations came up here.

Thanks Alex, I saw that typo as I was pulling in the links and have passed it on to the folks that manage those pages.  If you haven't already, check out the VT Code Camp page (http://vtcodecamp.org/).  Code Camp was about 10 days ago, but the paragraph text includes links to various technology groups in the area that may be of interest.
