Showcase Your Windows 7 Application on CNET
One year after its release, adoption to the [Windows 7] desktop operating system is exceeding expectations
Only 7 percent of those surveyed by Forrester a year ago said they planned to deploy Windows 7 this year, yet 46 percent actually said they have begun or will begin deployments.
"Ninety percent of customers have plans in some way, shape or form to be moving toward Windows 7," [IDC analyst Al] Gillen said.
These are just a handful of quotes from a recent article by Jeffrey Schwartz in RedmondMag.com (and syndicated elsewhere) bringing to light the fact that Windows 7 is enjoying a healthy and swift adoption rate.
Ok, so… Well, as consumers and businesses adopt Windows 7, you certainly want your applications to shine on that platform – and brighter than your competitors’ of course! To provide an incentive for you to bring some of the cool features of Windows 7 to your applications – the location API, jumplists, multitouch, and more – CNET Download.com and Microsoft have partnered on the Windows 7 Optimized program.
Be certain to review the full program rules and procedures, but in a nutshell, by lighting up your application with at least one of the qualifying Windows 7 features (and you were going to do that anyway, right!) you become eligible to have your application featured on CNET’s Download.com site, in an “Optimized for Windows 7” showcase!
Your application has to be submitted by midnight, December 6th, so the clock’s ticking!

I'm looking forward to seeing some real finished apps. I spent so much time fussing around with silverlight issues; I shelved the whole thing. Really looking at getting inspired by what others are doing and hopefully we'll see some real fantastic optimized apps and get some surprises! looking forward very much, good to have CNET, hopefully this is something that will continue.
