About Me
About Jason Buffington
I have been in the IT server technology space for about 17 years - with a majority of that time focussed on data protection, high availability, disaster recovery and business continuity. I have worked at tape backup manufacturers and replication/failover vendors - and have been in the integrator channel, small and large ISV's and now at Microsoft.
My favorite role in this industry is the PreSales SE with a particular competency or specialty - so my uber favorite gig is that of a Microsoft Storage Techical Specialist. I have a passion for "the field" and the Microsoft, Partner, Channel, Customer ecosystem and using technology to solve real-world business problems.
My best days are on behind a podium to a large audience or doing a webcast. I have had quite a bit published and have been fortunate to speak at most of the major events in the industry
I feel richly blessed in my life, have been happily married for 15 years with three great kids and live in Dallas, Texas - commuting to Redmond, roughly one week per month.
What you can expect from my blogs: I started blogging as a soapbox for the things that I am passionate about - which includes the products that I represent during my working hours, the games that I play during my personal hours, and other topics that interest me personally. I will also be offering an official community blog for the Windows Storage Solutions division, on behalf of our product group for things related to Windows Storage Server and Data Protection Manager.
It’s important to note that what I say on this blog (including any podcasts) is my personal opinion and is not read or approved by anyone before it is posted. Even though I work for Microsoft, not everything accurately reflects the views of my employer, my management, my co-workers, Microsoft partners or affiliates. I do my best to ensure that everything I post is accurate, but the postings on this site are provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
What you will not get here: I can’t comment on rumors, unreleased details, data or anything that is covered under my Microsoft NDA - nor can I directly address topics that are related to a specific competititve technology or alternative offering.
You also won't see things from the Christian side of my heart or much about my family or friends - other than topics related to Xbox gaming. If interested in those topics, please visit my personal site at https://JBUFF.spaces.live.com.
If you need Technical Support on a Windows storage-related product: I can't provide technical support via this blog - and candidly, while I stay as connected to technology as possible, I am usually focused on the features and capabilites of my products, not troubleshooting them (unless I have had personal experience with that error and had to resolve it in my own lab).
If you need gaming support on an Xbox game that I have played (check out my gamer card) or on most things related to Pokemon (which I play with my two sons), then please reach out.
Thanks for stopping by, and I appreciate the time you took to read this. I know how busy you are.
