SQL Saturday Sofia 2015–officially the largest SQL Server event in Bulgaria
It was a bit more than a week ago when Sofia hosted SQL Saturday #430. We had more than 350 people joining us for this event to make it practically the biggest SQL Server event in Bulgaria (and probably in the region as well ). We had 19 speakers, half of which international and well known in the SQL Server community. All the speakers delivered total of 24 session in 4 different tracks, covering DBA, development, IOT, BI and Azure topics.
Probably you wonder why am I sharing this? There are number of reasons behind that – firstly – I am still super excited around the success of the event – I was quite busy helping with the organization and supporting it however I can, although the community leaders handled most of the tasks perfectly by themselves. Secondly – I got to speak about my passion – SQL Server (and a bonus – to represent Microsoft on the event) and Azure. Thirdly – this is how I think and believe that the SQL Server community can grow and evolve – this year we had new local speakers (first timers on SQL Saturday conferences) and they did an amazing job. Lastly – this is the place where I met a lot of friends, old colleagues, new colleagues and probably future colleagues - all sharing one and the same passion – passion about data and SQL Server. For me this is THE event in my annual calendar and for the fourth year in a row, this was a great SQL Saturday in Sofia.
And because usually the pictures say it best – take a look at the audience on my session on effective indexes in SQL Server
And do you know what the great thing is? – I am scheduled to speak on another SQL Server Saturday in just a month – SQL Saturday #475 in Belgrade. There I will talk about some advanced SQL Server indexing topics and I know that I will have a great time with my friends there.
