What's New in Windows Vista?
One of the most popular questions that I've been hearing lately is "what's new in Windows Vista?". Therefore, I could not prevent myself from writing a post with links that provide information about this issue:
- Let's start with the changes in the kernel. Mark Russinovich covers this topic very well:
- In user-mode, Arstechnica provides a deep overview (this is the first post of a three-part review)
- Security-related topics:
- Michael Howard presents the big picture about Windows Vista's security here and focuses on ASLR (here and here)
- Windows Vista Security Enchancements discusses about the changes in more depth
- Channel9 videos about security in Vista (part 1, part 2) and User Account Control (UAC)
- Channel9 has videos that cover many windows components that are new in windows vista
- Wikipedia provides a quick overview of all the new additions in Windows Vista
UPDATE:
If you are interested in a detailed comparison between the different Windows Vista versions (Home, Business, Enterprise, etc), then you can look here (4th post).
