Sad day for Irish Technical Community
It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of David Houston. Dave was the first person I made contact with in Dublin when I made the decision to move over from Canada. We had a link in our support of SBS and that lead to a mutual respect. I ran a user group back in Canada and I respect the time and dedication it tales to run a group like SBS Ireland as Dave had for a number of years. He was a fun and interesting guy with a deep desire to be involved in the technical community here in Dublin and make others better. I was fortunate enough to attend TechEd EMEA with Dave in 2009 and had a chance to spend time with Dave and get to know him and as a result will greatly miss him in the community and in general.
David Houston
cheers

Will Sorry to hear of the passing of a friend. He sounds like he had a great amount of technical passion. I imagine through his friends and those like you, he will live on in ways he never imagined. A toast to him. May he be in Heaven a full hour before the Devil knows he's dead. ;) (Hope I got that right) SeanAnonymous

Dave was a fantastic professional, peer, and friend. He, like many in the community, showed the importance of sticking with your passions no matter what got in the way and he will be missed by everyone who connected with him. Thanks for this post and showing readers who he was beyond the technology.Anonymous

I had the pleasure of working closely with David over the past 5 or 6 years. His expert knowledge and willingness to never give up on any challenge both physical and technical was amazing! His loss is felt deeply amounts his friends and colleagues, amongst whom I’m proud to be counted. His contribution to the SBS community was far reaching and the many emails of shock at his passing are a credit to how much he was liked.Anonymous

I dealt with David occasionally over the last couple of years or so and all I's like to say is what a lovely decent easy going gentleman he was to work with always. My sincere condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.Anonymous

Dave not only ran the Ireland SBS group, but he was also very instrumental in the ramp up of the International SBSgroupLeads leaders group. A group of leaders all running SBS IT Peer groups from around the world. He will be missed.Anonymous
