The Vista Quiz
Those of you who have been reading this blog for a while will remember that just about 1 year ago we were gearing up for the UK developer launch of Vista and Office 2007. It was an interesting time for us who were involved with the event.
While there was lots of stuff happening (not least pre-recording every session and releasing online at the same time as the launch event - something we later received an award for...) one of the little sidelines was organising a quiz for the Saturday event with prizes of webcams and an Xbox 360.
A year on I thought it would be fun (fun being a relative term) to reproduce the questions in this blog so that people who didn't attend the launch could try out their knowledge. No prizes this time, it's just for amusement (another relative term).
There were 40 Vista questions, 40 Office 2007 questions, and 40 general knowledge questions. I'll release the 40 Vista ones today, with the answers later, then the 40 Office ones with those answers later. Not too sure whether you really want the general knowledge ones!
Oh and one final thing: If you disagree with the answers don't shoot me! The judges' decision was final on the day :-)
And thanks to my colleagues John Noakes, Charlotte Duffy and Mark Quirk for helping make this happen 12 months ago.
So here we go. And bear in mind these were written in January 2007 so some of the wording reflects that (eg "what is the release date of the consumer version of Windows Vista"):

I remember that quiz. I walked away with two MS webcams as a result. Would have liked to have won the Xbox but unfortunately, I severely mis-guessed the number of teabags drunk at Redmond... Was the ever a final decision about the number of editions of Vista - the 'N' (non Windows Media Player) editions and whether they counted. ;) Certainly was a great day - loved the developer programming sessions - any chance something like that might be repeated for the VS2008 launch?Anonymous

As for question 40, Windows 7 (aka Vienna, which i prefer), any ideas when we're going to get some details about it? Not meaning to be a pest of course...Anonymous

Hi Paul, feel free to be a pest :-), but I can't promise to be able to help.... As for Windows 7 / Vienna, I can't tell you anything more than you may have read elsewhere unfortunately. As soon as I have more I'll let you know, but right now there's nothing to share.Anonymous
