Use Outlook OFT files to prepare mails for others to send

We've discussed how to use Outlook OFT files for creating reusable mail templates when you, say, prepare a weekly newsletter to send to customers or deliver regular status reports to your extended team.

They're equally useful when creating a mail for someone else - such as your boss - to send. Personally, I share this Tips & Tricks newsletter so our sales team can invite their customers to live events while offering them some of our favorite Office 2010 tips:

Tips & Ticks reusable mail template

Simply create your mail, proof it carefully, and then go to File, Save As, use the Save as type dropdown, and select Office Template (*.oft) :

Save as type: Outlook Template

Now simply attach the template file to a mail. Unless you selected a new place to save it, look in C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates (where YOUR_USERNAME is the name you enter when logging into Windows).

Be sure to call out any special instructions on how to customize the mail, if needed. The intended sender can use it "as is" or add a personal note on top, address it, and click Send.

We have a partially filled template.oft but when we make amendments and send it, Outlook sends the original template without any amendments. Any suggestions?
