Upcoming interviews and thinking about podcasting

After linking to Mike Hall's podcast with Balz Wyss, I gave Mike a call to discuss podcasting in general (how difficult it is, etc.) and whether Mike would produce a podcast of an interview I am planning with someone in his organization. Mike gave me the DL on podcasting and I am seriously thinking about doing it on an ongoing basis. What better way to share details of marketing, organizations, roles and people here at Microsoft than to have it come directly from the folks who know. I'm probably a couple weeks from making a decision on whether this is something that I can commit to (fear of commitment, yeah, that sounds like me).

Look for a podcast with Jane Gilson, Director of Product Management in our Mobile and Embedded Division. Depending on schedules, it should be up in the next week or so. If you have specific questions for Jane, post them now!

    3 Qns for jane:

    a. with Mobile & embedded biz being a loss (albeit a future growth) business - how different are the metrics used for judging its success from a traditionally cash-cow/profit making/more stable business like say - Information worked or the PC business?

    b. with embedded division being as close to pervasive computing as it gets in an contemproary market - is the work different from other groups? As in more collaboration with partners, other vendors and other service providers?

    c. What is the next big thing in the words of Jane?

    Hi Heather,
I've become a real fan of the podcasting concept, especially since the interviews on landed can run 20 min or more. Great use for an iPod! I've recenty signed up w/feedburner to host my podcasts since they have a nice interface, can provide stats on the # of downloads, etc. Click on any of the podcast links on landed.fm and you'll see what I mean. Also, the interview we recorded with you will be live this week, will send the link when it is...
    Best,
    Peter
