Steve Ballmer speech at Stanford GSB

Steve spoke yesterday to a group of about 1,000 MBA students at Stanford. Aside from the entertainment factor (he's always entertaining), I think the content says a lot about how Microsoft, as a company, thinks about innovation under his leadership. And proof that you don't need an MBA to be successful at Microsoft. But it does help if you have someone refer you...especially someone like Bill Gates ; )

  Nice speech. It's always fun to hear Steve openly talk about the real difficulty to produce truly reliable software. "Works like you want it most of the time... Relatively secure...". Some people are over-critical and don't understand the complexity of software and these kind of statements always soothes them a bit.
  
  The picture depicted by Steve is a modern view of Bill's "The Road Ahead" written 10 years ago. I read it recently (You know the type of books your father bought for you, but it endend on the shelf cuz you didn't care much at the time and actually read it years later) and it was interesting to see how accurate Bill's predictions were - the computing industry will indeed soar and overwhelm our lives.
  
  I have to admit that I hope it will not only benefit our businesses and leisures, but also help the healthcare field find out more about the human body. - I bit out there I know, but whatever ;o)
  
  And Heather, do you have any clue what his favourite cells are!? That's kind of funky :)

  Well it was kind of late, but in his introduction by the dean of the SCB, he was said to have favourite cells in a spreadsheet ;o)
