Marketing Editor for MSN

The adCenter team is looking for a smart and creative editor who is experienced with marketing and service communications. If you have a deep understanding of business objectives and customer needs from a marketing perspective, and can speak (or learn) the customer language in the search advertising realm, you could be just the person we're looking for. One of the products we support is MSN adCenter, a new player in the multi-billion-dollar Search industry.

Core responsibilities:

• Edit global go-to-market content for MSN adCenter. Materials may include:
o Website content designed to persuade new customers and educate existing ones. https://advertising.msn.com/msn-adcenter.
o QuickLaunch Program support materials.
o Customer-facing e-mails, letters, and sales presentations.
o Materials to support sales, clients, and agencies.
o Support Team phone scripts and automated e-mail responses.
• Edit marketing communications and service communications.
• Adapt your editing approach to the prevailing audience, supporting either internal customers (sales, clients, agencies) or external customers (Search advertising consumers or consultants) with the right content, language, voice and tone.
• Keep content effective and compelling while compliant with applicable Microsoft guidelines -- legal, geopolitical, branding, localization, privacy, security, etc.
• Keep terminology and feature descriptions consistent between marketing content, the product, and other content sources.
• Develop productive relationships with partner teams who function as content sources; become a valued and indispensable part of their publishing process.
• Manage terminology between groups and publications.
• Develop and evangelize style guidelines for service communications.

Requirements:

o Knowledge of marketing and service communications concepts.
o Experience editing marketing materials.
o Strong editing skills at every level of editing, from developmental edit to copyedit.
o A talent for producing clear, engaging content in simple language.
o A proven ear for web-friendly, consumer-oriented tone and voice.
o Knowledge of effective online writing methods.
o Knowledge of business and branding requirements.
o Superb interpersonal skills.
o The ability to zoom in and zoom out - meaning, you can think big-picture but also handle details flawlessly.
o Ingenuity. You can spot new user needs, suggest fresh directions, and see opportunities for content synergy and process improvements.
o A get-it-done attitude. You can meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and drive projects to completion without much supervision.
o Knowledge of Word (with change tracking), Excel, and Product Studio are ideal. Knowing a source control tool like VSS or Source Depot is a plus, and HTML/XML language is a bonus.

Education and Experience
B.A. in English or Communications or 4+ years of relevant experience writing/editing marketing content.
