Jazzy Quotes

I love these (from Presentation Zen). Why is it that the jazz man/woman is so eloquent? I suspect that it's the combination of the heart and mind that goes into their work. We should all be so inspired:

“You can play a shoestring if you’re sincere.” -John Coltrane

As a Microsoft Consultant AND Professional Jazz Musician I could relate to all of those comments. All of the original IBM engineers back in the 1940’s were trained musicians. Musicians are “Right & Left Brained” – but Jazz Musicians must bounce between these two hemispheres with ease. One moment we’re playing the written note, the next moment we’re re reinterpreting that same phrase, then finally improvising entire new music – never to be played again.

(NOTE: We actually prefer “spontaneous composition” over “improvisation”).

Wow, I love that quote. It really applies when you think about small business owners & marketers.

I'm not too big of a jazz guy but I do love Diana Kroll & Norah Jones.

    Heather, are you into quotes?
