Responsibilities
As Evangelist, Device Management & Installation, you’ll be directly accountable for:
a) Driving adoption of Device Installation and Management tools to benefit consumers
a. Engage w/ ~30 IHVs to drive adoption of MSFT’s tools to provide end users with a consistent installation experience that does not compromise system stability.
b) Drive adoption of key Vista technologies in Device Installation and Management to benefit the enterprise
a. Engage leading (~4) enterprise management software ISVs to drive adoption of MSFT’s tools to provide IT admins with a touchless, secure deployment of device drivers, and, applications with drivers to client desktops
c) For both categories
a. Provide partner f/b on tools to product team in a prioritized manner – issues, feature requests, etc. Route partner f/b not directly related to product team to appropriate internal team(s) for follow up action.
b. Escalate any partner blocking issues that block adoption and go to market
c. Provide consistent messages and value prop developed by the product team to partners
d) Success will be measured by partners shipping with technologies above designed in, and representing largest footprint of market share
Qualifications:
This position requires a unique combination of the following – Solid understanding of the device software lifecycle (from designing to maintaining), device installation in the windows environment (for both consumers and enterprises), core Program Management skills, and strong Partner and Customer Relationship Management / Business Development skills.
You have in-depth knowledge of the hardware industry and demonstrated skills in securing “design-ins” with industry partners. You hold your own on issues raised by partners while minimizing interrupts and impacts to product teams. You appreciate both the big picture of what partners are trying to implement and the detailed picture of how product group technologies fit in. You have a proven track record of creating and managing partnerships and the ability to work through adversity and ambiguity. You possess strong project and partner management skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong business acumen. You also demonstrate strategic thinking, decision-making, conflict resolution, problem solving and negotiating skills with finesse. You have a proven ability to successfully drive for results despite ambiguity.
The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 7 years experience working in a related high-tech environment. Technical in-depth understanding of device software and delivering go to market product in at least one key device category (e.g. graphics, networking, and storage) is required. A Masters Degree in Business Administration with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required, or in lieu thereof, equivalent industry experience.
