I delivered three sessions on Windows 7 Deployment over the past week. I was in Phoenix on September 15th, Irvine on September 20th and Los Angeles on September 21st. I wanted to follow up with links to information that was mentioned in the sessions.

During the Phoenix event, I had an attendee ask if it was possible to configure XP Mode on an instance of Windows 7 installed in a virtual machine. I decided to test this out to find out first hand. I brought up a Windows 7 Ultimate install on my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V box. The XP Mode bits installed just fine, but when I went to configure the XP Mode machine, the entire VM locked up. No matter what I tried, I could not get XP Mode to work. I figured that was the case, but I had to test it out to be sure. It is true that we do not support virtualization within a virtualized instance.
