Field Tested Tools: Toucan Navigate for Groove
Field-Tested Applications for your Organization
Mapping Tools
The folks at InfoPatterns have a long history with Groove. (Side note: I'll take some pride of ownership in initiating Tim Boyd into Groove several years ago as his TS). One great app they developed addresses "Geo-collaboration" - that is, collaborative teams that need to work with geospatial data. Toucan Navigate integrates geo-spatial data with personal or business data to help teams connnect on mapping data. You get all the benefits of Groove -- secure, cross firewall, automatic synchronization of data -- with a rich application layer that helps teams collect, share, and view mapping information. As they say, they want to help you become a"First Responder, "wether the situation is a natural disaster, or emerging business opportunity."
There are several other apps worth investigating from InfoPatterns. For example, developers might be interested in Bambuco, an application that enables synchronization of data between a forms solution in Groove and a SQL database. If you are a GPS junkie like my colleague Matt is, you can use GPSTray to publish your location information to a Groove form, and out to the rest of the team.
If you are reading this blog, you might browse through the InfoPatterns pages with two objectives. First, if you have a need for geospatial solutions, check out some of the solutions they have built. Second, if you are a developer, InfoPatterns provides some great examples of innovation on top of the Groove platform. Either way, its worth checking out their material.
