After wasting a few hours trying to get the demo VM running, I have some feedback.
- What is the deal with a full DemoMate install for very simple instructions related to getting the VM setup? I couldn't get it to install properly on Windows 7 (and I definitely tried), and the demo is so basic and crude that it provides no more information than screen shots.
- A simple Word document or PDF with an overview of the HyperV import, config, and basic usage would have been much easier and faster for me to work with. Screen shots are perfectly fine.
- The config.xml file supplied with the image was referencing paths on a G: drive with "Dynamics" spelled incorrectly in the path (sloppy). After receiving errors trying to import the VM, and lacking any decent documentation, I tried editing the XML file and the import worked. A basic note documenting this would have been nice (again, in a doc or PDF, not in a useless DemoMate demo)
- I've been looking for any documentation that says what the password is for the VM, but I haven't been able to find any documentation of the login(s). Once again, simple Word doc with the basics in one place would have been great. I would recommend spending a little bit of time focusing on what matters for partners who are trying to get this thing running. I appreciate that releasing a complex VM takes a lot of work, but without some basic information, the VM is useless. Thank you for your feedback. We will export the DemoMate into Word and post it to make the experience easier. DemoMate runs on Windows 7, so to resolve your issue you can contact them at support@demomate.com. We are working on documentation that will help this transition and will hopefully have it available soon. Thank you for your feedback, Pam MisialekAnonymous
