Announcing GeekGive, TechEd 2011 edition

If you are coming to Atlanta for TechEd this year, why not arrive a little early and help give back to the local community?

GeekGive is a wonderful organization headed by Steve Andrews. GeekGive projects are a way for geeks gathering for events like TechEd 2010 in New Orleans and the Microsoft MVP Summit in Seattle to give of their time and energy and help improve the greater community at large.

On the Saturday before TechEd (May 14) join your fellow geek givers to lend just a little of your time and effort in making one of Atlanta’s intown neighborhoods a little more pleasant for the residents. The Peoplestown Revitalization Corporation is focused on making the Peoplestown neighborhood a clean and desirable place to live. Drop by to help and participate in the dedication ceremony for Atlanta's first public beltline park. Spend some time meeting the residents, hearing their stories and sharing yours. Then lend a hand to their efforts to clean up lots and streets in the area.

TechEd 2011 attendees as well as local Atlanta geeks are invited to participate in this effort, so sign up as a volunteer today!

Incorporated in 1991 by residents interested in increasing neighborhood voice in local planning and development, the Peoplestown Revitalization Corporation currently focuses on housing and economic development. While a fairly young organization, the PRC is part of a long history of resident-led initiatives focused on improving neighborhood services, mitigating the negative impact of urban renewal and highway building, and facilitating local participation in city planning and development.
