A “network issue” is quite a broad explanation, though we suppose specifics are quite simply not applicable, as folks just want to log in and do what they need to do.

This can absolutely happen to anyone... including Microsoft. As an IT Professional, I'm very interested in ways to minimize downtime. This should not be viewed as a negative on Linked-in's staff, but rather a call to action for the rest of us to review our disaster recovery procedures.
