The EMI Group, the British music giant, has been considering a plan to offer a broad swath of its recordings for sale online without anti-copying software, executives involved in discussions with the company said.

MY COMMENT:
I remember talked to Ted Cohen, when he was a SVP at EMI Music. He was pushing for this way back then, and it’s great to see the record labels considering the removing of anti-copying software.

    Won't it be nice when the industry develops business models that treat BITS (digital content) differently to ATOMS. This step in the right direction is probably related to Steve Jobs public call for DRM removal http://mseyfang.edublogs.org/2007/02/07/steve-jobs-is-no-fan-of-drm-either/ I wonder what the real 'tipping point' music executives seem to be seeing is?  Any clues??
