Office Live Add-in errors occur in Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007

INTRODUCTON

You may see an error message when you try to use the Microsoft Office Live Add-in with one of these Microsoft Office applications:

  • Excel 2003
  • Excel 2007
  • PowerPoint 2003
  • PowerPoint 2007
  • Word 2003
  • Word 2007

If you are running version 1.3 of the Microsoft Office Live Add-in, you see this error message:

Connecting to the network failed. Try again later.

If you are running version 1.4 or 1.5 of the Microsoft Office Live Add-in, you see this error message:

Connecting to the Microsoft Office Live Workspace beta failed due to an unexpected error. Try again later.

You may also receive this error message when you close the Microsoft Office applications that are listed in this article:

Microsoft Office Live Add-in Sign-in has encountered a problem and needs to close.

    Microsoft Fix it 50175 download does not work, "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2738." 3 attempts, same problem.

    Downloaded the fixit today and it worked like magic.  No more shut-down error messages when applications are closed.  Shame I had to look for a fix after months of "error" messages.

    I am running a Windows7 Starter with office 2003. And I encountered the "sign in with office live workspace beta" error when I access  the auto-text's Header/footer function. I have followed the instructions to uninstall the Live add-in ver 1.5 and also rebooted my pc but the errors still persisted. Please help.
