It may be possible to fix the problem using these steps :

    1. Open Outlook Express
    2. Click "Local Folders" in the left side navigation
    3. Select New Folder and name it TEMP
    4. If possible move all of the email from your Inbox to the TEMP folder
    5. Go to menu bar and select Tools -> Options -> Maintenance -> Store Folder and then write down the location of your inbox
    6. Close Outlook Express,
    7. Use My Computer to go to the location is step 5 and then delete the file inbox.dbx
    8. Open Outlook Express - The Inbox folder should be auto recreated.
    9. Move your email from the TEMP folder back to your Inbox

I don't know if anyone is still looking for help with this error. It basically means you have too much saved email in the version of Outlook Express your are using. You may want to try some of the methods listed in Outlook Express Fix Toolbox

Link to free demo version:- http://www.outlookexpress.fixtoolbox.com/

Hope this helps for people who are still getting this error. If you are getting it, I am sure you are dreading the fact you may lose 'A lot' of your saved emails.

    Good luck,

http://www.insideoe.com/problems/bugs.htm (Scroll to 'Hyperlinks in messages stop working'. This repaired Outlook.) http://www.scscc.com/bkk/Hyperlinks%20Won't%20Work,%20When%20Your.pdf (Scroll to bottom pg 2 of this pdf.  This repaired WORD/EXCEL.)   I don't know if following directions of the pdf would have also repaired Outlook since I found & worked the first link before the pdf.  MTFBWY

Cory - Many thanks!  Your fix worked for me.  For some reason the Application used to perform function on my machine read “C:Program FilesInternet ExplorerIEXPLORE.EXE” -nohome %1.  Changing it to “C:Program FilesInternet Exploreriexplore.exe” -nohome did the trick!

Cory...I tried your fix and I had everything exactly the same in the quotes already, except my "iexplore.exe" was in caps (IEXPLORE.EXE); then I changed to lower case and....voila...it worked!  Thanks!

Now, instead of displaying hyperlinks in blue underlined, the hyperlinks display {HYPERLINK "http://www.miscrosoft.com"}. How can I fix this back to work properly. I am also having problems with page numbers displaying wierd as well. Thanks.

There is an answer here that worked for me: I have XP. On this page, social.answers.microsoft.com/.../2811dc6b-ee41-4e57-a612-700c9e471cd3 scroll down to where it says "For Windows XP:" I use Firefox, so I did not want to change the default browser, even temporarily. I started where it says "If hyperlinks are still not working". When I  got to step 6, I clicked on the "Browse" button, instead of following this instruction to the letter. I went to the program files, Mozilla folder, and clicked directly on the firefox.exe program name.  Use "OK" to back out of this and the next screens. I then performed step 7 in the same way.  I did a few other URL choices on the list, just to make sure.  Somehow, Google's Chrome browser had gotten inserted into this location, and messed things up.  It could have been when I updated my Sun Java, even though I had selected "NO" when presented with the choice of adding this browser. I want to thank Microsoft for their help, and the other folks who wrote in and provided information.
