Enable Hibernate and Hybrid Sleep Feature Fix it Live!

clip_image002 I used the Disk Cleanup Tool in Windows Vista, and now the hybrid sleep feature and the hibernation feature are unavailable

clip_image002 How do I enable hibernation on my Windows Vista-based computer?

We just released an improved Fix it solution. This Fix it replaces the Enable Hibernate and Hybrid Sleep Feature and runs "powercfg -h on” after confirming there is adequate disk space on the system drive to enable the hibernation file.

Hi, Jurgen, We are sorry that the solution did not work for you.  We are currently updating it to cover additional scenarios.   When you go to control panel, you should have a link in the upper left called 'Control Panel Home'.  If you click this link, then enter 'hibernate' in the search window, you should see a link for 'Turn hibernation on or off' in the search results under 'Power Options'.  Please click this link, then:

  1. Click "Change advance power settings"
  2. Scroll to and expand the "Sleep" option.
  3. Select "Off" to the "Allow hybrid sleep" option.
  4. Scroll to and expand the "Power buttons and lid" option.
  5. Select "Hibernate" for the "Sleep button action" option.
  6. Select "Hibernate" for the "Start menu power button" option. Please let me know whether these steps work for you. Best regards, Jim

And I also try the "Change advance power settings", and there are no "Allow hybrid sleep" option under the "sleep and "Hibernate" under the "Sleep button action" at all. I have send a email to fix4me, see if anyone can solve my problem. Anyway, thanks a lot.

Folks, thank you very much fir the "Fix it" idea - it really helped. After installing Vista Ultimate on my Acer Aspire 8930G laptop, hibernation initially worked fine but since I installed the latest nVidia laptop drivers (179.48) it had not been available anymore so I suspect the nVidia drivers being responsible for it. Thanks to your tool, hibernation could be switched on again.

After running this program, the computer correctly hibernates when the power button is pressed, but only until the computer is shut down. Each time it is rebooted, hibernation has to be enabled again. Is this the way it is intended to work?

The 'Hibernation' option was not on my start menu. The Fix-It download and the 'By-Hand' procedure did not work for me. The Control Panel procedure listed did work for me. But it meant that I had to turn off Hybrid Sleep. Looking more closely I found that I can turn on Hybrid Sleep and assign 'Hibernate' to the sleep button, so I have all I need. Shut Down of the Start Menu power button. Sleep on closing the laptop's lid. Hibernate on the Sleep Key. PS the Control Panel must NOT be in the classic view. If it is, the search for 'hibernate' will find nothing. Thank Julian.

i have a basically new(<1month) MSI all-in-one pc with windows 7 home premium. I have all sleep/hibernate button, options and advanced options. but my pc just wont automatically hibernate. it will if i click the button(manually). all settings are set to what i want(sleep 15, hibernate 30). worked fine with default settings for two weeks, then just stopped. tried system restore, tried shutting of wake events, etc. nothing, and can't seem to find an answer anywhere and so far this seems to be the best place to ask. Any ideas???
