Blog TOCThere are some aspects of Open XML markup that are not supported by Office 2003, as Office 2003 doesn’t have the corresponding features. You can find details of what’s supported and what’s not here.
There’s also some great information on the compatibility pack on the Microsoft Office Word Team’s blog.

I know Eric that's not your primary domain of expertise, but if you need to open ODF documents, go get the "OpenXML/ODF Translator Add-ins for Office", over here http://odf-converter.sourceforge.net/ and check the demo over there http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKF1KYNY1uoAnonymous
