Bugcheck 0x7F (UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP) when migrating Hyper-V VMs between hosts

Hi, my name is Adrian and I am a Support Escalation Engineer with the EMEA Performance team.

I've seen an increased number of cases recently where customers have issues with Hyper-V systems crashing with a BugCheck code 0x7F (UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP) when trying to move a VM from one host to another.

In the scenarios I've seen both the source and destination hosts would go down at the same time.

In case you hit this issue, one of the first things to check is that the antivirus on the box has the proper exclusions setup for Hyper-V.

There is a list with all AV exclusions for Hyper-V hosts here.

Add the proper exclusion and see if the issue reoccurs.
