After applying CRM 4.0 Rollup 7 or Rollup 8 on the sever you might no longer be able to attach files to a note

Within support we have seen the following problem several times.

After installing Update Rollup 7 or Update Rollup 8 on the server you might no longer be able to attach a file to a note. The following error message will occur:

An unexpected Error occurred.

How to identify the issue
In the application event log you will see the following error log.

Process information:
    Process ID: 3476
    Process name: w3wp.exe
    Account name: NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE
Exception information:
    Exception type: CrmException
    Exception message: Column 'BlockedAttachmentsForDownload' does not exist on Table 'Deployment'

Resolution
The current recommendation to resolve the problem is the following.

  1. Uninstall Update Rollup 7 or Update Rollup 8 (on the CRM Server)
  2. Reapply Update Rollup 6 (on the CRM Server) -> This will create the missing Column 'BlockedAttachmentsForDownload' within the table 'Deplyoment'
  3. Reinstall Update Rollup 7 or Update Rollup 8 (on the CRM Server)

    The above mentioned step ["Htm/html attachments that contain malicious scripts can be opened in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 support.microsoft.com/default.aspx] is not working because it is trying to update the field 'BlockedAttachmentsForDownload', but the column is not there in the Deployment table to upate. So it is giving error. We also tried by installing roll up 6 but it was not solved. What we have to do becuase RU21 was already installed, whether we have to uninstall all the rollups that are installed after RU6.
