Question: From report designer, how do I directly export a report to Excel WITHOUT going thru report viewer. For example, I want to automatically export my balance sheet to a network folder in Excel format. We did this in FRx and it is very convenient for our users. Thanks SeanAnonymous

Hi Sean, Management Reporter provides the flexibility to open up the report in the format that the user prefers. So if you generate a Management Reporter report to a network file share the user will then be prompted to view the file format that they prefer (Viewer, Excel, or XPS). They can select an option to remember their settings and they won't be prompted for their preferred filetype again (unless they want to change selection). This will also check the user's security and ensure that they only get back data that they are authorized to see.Anonymous

Hi all, Can MR 2012 connect to AX2009 and AX2012 at the "same time"? We have a need to pull and combine data from these two ERP solutions as we will be migrating to some our Subs to AX2012 and Others will stay in AX2009. Thanks HectorAnonymous

Hi Hector Yes, you can connect to both Dynamics AX 2012 and Dynamics AX 2009 at the same time. You can connect to as many instances of Dynamics AX 2012 as you have but for Dynamics AX 2009, we are only able to connect to one instance. We suggest you use a consolidation company for Dynamics AX 2009 instances and then connect to the remaining Dynamics AX 2012 instances. This blog post might help explain it more: blogs.msdn.com/.../creating-consolidated-financial-statements-using-management-reporter-consolidating-with-multiple-dynamics-ax-2009-instances-aos-and-or-if-currency-translation-and-eliminations-are-required-part-4-of-7.aspxAnonymous

Hi CharG, Thanks for the feedback. We have One instance of AX 2009 but with several companies, some of which are in different currency. These all share the Chart of Accounts and Dimensions. So I presume we can still connect to such instance and be able to consolidate with the AX 2012? Also since we currently use FRX to do the currency Translation, I guess one major challenge will be to convert the AX 2009 data to MR2012 can pull the converted figures and be able to combine with the companies that will reside in AX2012 which will also have multiple currencies. I wish MR will offer the Translation just like FRX as to avoid the messy consolidation that has to be done within AX in order to pull consolidated data with MR.Anonymous

Hi, Can we actually use GP 9 and Dynamics AX 2012 with Management Reporter at the same time? GP on legacy connector and then AX 2012 on DDM? Thanks!Anonymous

Great! thanks again! :)Anonymous

Jeff, One clarification here. Management Reporter supports Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 and higher. To consolidate across versions, the GP9 instance would need to be updated to 2010 or higher. Thanks RyanAnonymous

A pre-requisite for MR on AX 2012 is CU4. CU4 is huge! And something that we'd like to be able to put off applying for a while. Are there specific hotfixes that we could apply that would give us the ability to run MR without necessarily taking ALL of CU4?Anonymous
