Company Selection for Microsoft Dynamics GP data mart (CU10 Feature)

With Management Reporter CU10, we’ve introduced the ability to have much more control over which companies are available for reporting. The first feature to support this flexibility is the ability to exclude or include specific companies for reporting.

In speaking with customers, we’ve heard three main reasons on why a company would be excluded from reporting

  • Exclude historical companies. Companies may have been used years ago, but are now there for archival purposes only. They are no longer reported on so should be excluded from MR.
  • Exclude test or demo companies. There may be test companies that are used for specific testing within Dynamics GP. These test companies can be excluded unless testing needs to specifically done against financial reporting.
  • Disable new companies for reporting until all setup has been completed. When a new company is created, it may be several days or weeks between company creation and when new transactions start getting entered for that company. New companies can be disabled until they are ready to be enabled for reporting.

Hi Ryan.  Thanks for including this functionality in MR.  It is something we have needed for a long time.  The title of this post mentions GP.  Is this functionality only for MR connected to GP?  We use AX.  Thanks for the clarification! Connie Thompson

Hi Connie, This feature is specific to Dynamics GP using the data mart, so this would not work for Dynamics AX unfortunately. Can you click on Email Blog Author and send me a note with your email address? I can ask you a few more questions via email. blogs.msdn.com/.../contact.aspx

After finally being able to move up from CU8 to CU12, I was disappointed to see that this feature does not appear to be working as advertised.  When I open the SQL Server Activity Monitor, I find that the SQL account Management Reporter uses to connect to the SQL server, is logged in to all of my Dynamics GP databases, including those companies that are not listed as "Companies added to Management Reporter".   We have some test companies in GP and having MR constantly logged in to the test companies prevents things like restoring from backup to reset or fresh data.   It's disappointing that the company selection option appears to be only skin deep. the integration.

Hello Ryan - what happens when a company is disabled, the data mart is removed and then I start over?  I did this and the buttons for Add Company and Disable company are not showing in this screen.  I even uninstalled and deleted everything and then started over the buttons are not there.  What do I do now?
