Status: Resolved
Just an informational post regarding:
Update 110803: Thanks to one of the readers of the blog I found out I should have updated this post some time ago, since the fix that addresses this on Win2008R2 SP1 is now public on https://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;2550978. Thanks for reminding me Willem! ;)
2344941 "0x0000007B" Stop error when you replace an iSCSI or PCI Express network adapter or a motherboard with an identical device on a Windows Server 2008 R2-based or Windows 7-based computer
https://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-US;2344941
When installing SP1 on Win2008R2, the fix above is undone, and the STOP 0x7B may reoccur.
We are aware of this issue and we are working on releasing a new hotfix to address it. As soon as I have information on the release timeframe, I will update this post.

Hiya! Any chance that new hotfix is close to releasing? I think we're running into this issue... When installing SP1 to a VM deployed from a template that had hotfix 2344941 installed, the network adapter becomes local area connection 2 and loses the network settings. It's fantastically annoying. We thought we fixed it with the hotfix, and now we can't install SP1 without breaking network connectivity! :)
