Support Debugging Tool - The wait is over

David MeegoFantastic news for the all the partner consultants and developers in the Dynamics GP community.

The Support Debugging Tool for Microsoft Dynamics GP has now been released on PartnerSource Secure Link for versions 8.0, 9.0 and 10.0.

Just over two years ago I started development on a tool designed to use Dexterity triggers to watch for incorrect data appearing in a table, and then provide Dexterity and SQL logs of the activity leading up to the point when the incorrect data was saved. This tool was able to resolve a year old support case within a few days of being deployed.  That was build 1 of what was then called the MBS Support Debugging Tool.

Since then, the functionality of the tool has been improved and added to and now we have build 9 of the tool. This build has been made available to the partner community, at no charge, for their use in helping to support the Microsoft Dynamics GP application.  You can freely install the tool at your customer's sites so it is ready and available when needed.  The tool is completely passive once installed unless it is asked to perform actions. If you are a customer and wish install the tool on your system, please discuss obtaining the tool with your partner.

Acknowledgments

I would like to take this opportunity to publically thank some of the team that helped make the release of the tool possible. Thanks to my colleagues on the Asia Pacific Microsoft Dynamics GP support team (Allan, Amy, Marian, Rob & Rochelle) for taking up the case load to give me the time to work on the development of the tool; to my previous and current Managers (Brad & Neil) for encouraging me to keep pushing for the tool to be released.

I would also like to thank a number of my colleagues in Fargo, who helped get the release code and documentation fine tuned.  Special thanks to Scott for taking ownership and driving the process to get the tool released. Thanks to Larry, Bob, Jon and Andrew for their input. To Steve, Scott (again) and Corey for their work on proofing the documentation. To Aaron, Chad and Shane for their encouragement to get the tool released and their feedback on the tools features and functionality.  To Sally for her help getting all the branding and license details sorted.

Finally, thank you to all the beta testers who provided constructive feedback to help make the tool the great utility it has become.
