Running the IV HITB Reset process after upgrading from Microsoft Dynamics GP 8

Marian Verzosa - Click for blog homepageHi Everyone,

I recently worked on a case where the IV10201 table is not recording any transaction that sells the quantity.

The IV10201 table is the Inventory Goods Received Detail (IV_Purchase_Receipts_DTL) table.

This table was added on Microsoft Dynamics GP 9.0 and is used to record all the outflow transactions affecting the quantity of the item.

Upon reviewing the IV10200 (Inventory Goods Received Work) table, we verified that there are unsold receipts in the IV10200 table that have valuation method of 0. The Valuation Method is stored in the VCTNMTHD column.

These lines were coming from a pre v9.0, v10.0 or GP 2010 build of Microsoft Dynamics GP.

If the VCTNMTHD column is 0, then when that receipt layer in the IV10200 is sold, the outflow will not be written to the IV10201 table.

Due to the extent of changes with inventory costing between Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains 8.0 and the latest builds of Microsoft Dynamics GP, we are recommending that all customers who use the Average Perpetual valuation method for their items and are upgrading from version 8.0 to a newer version, perform the steps that are required to implement the Historical Inventory Trial Balance (HITB) report as part of their upgrade process, even if they do not plan to use the HITB report.

It is advised to implement the HITB report before performing any transactions that involve average cost items on Microsoft Dynamics GP but you can run this process at any time.

For more information on the inventory costing changes, refer to the white papers within Knowledge Base (KB) Article 939912:

The IV Reset process to implement HITB has a Data Integrity Check that allows for the system to review the IV10200 layers.

This stage in the IV Reset process updates the unstamped (VCTNMTHD =0) and unsold layers in the IV10200 resulting in the outflow lines being recorded in the IV10201 table upon consumption of these layers.

Regards,

Marian
