Setup WebDAV on Windows Server 2003 to work with OneNote 2007
This is just what the developer said to get this setup:
1. Install Server 2003
2. Enable WebDAV
3. Run IIS
4. Right click on the machine/account/share name and click properties
5. Click on the MIME types button
6. New -> Extension=".one", MIME type="application/onenote"
7. New -> Extension=".onepkg", MIME type="application/onenote"
8. New -> Extension=".onetmp", MIME type="application/onenote"
9. New -> Extension=".onetoc2", MIME type="application/onenote"
10. Click OK and you're done
This is what should do it, I have heard from one person that they couldn't get this working but please let me know if it works for you or not. Patrick, I believe you wanted to test this out. Please let me know if it works for you : )

Dan - Out of curiosity, does OneNote really need those MIME types configured on the server? My (Debian) server recognizes those files as "application/vnd.ms-onenote". I wonder if it matters.Anonymous

I honestly don't know because those directions were mainly for Windows 2003 Servers working with IIS. Debian + Apache might work differently and I would say just try it out and see what happens. I haven't done this before so I don't have personally experience. If you have insights please let us know : ) Otherwise good question and wish I could help you moreAnonymous

Hi, unfortunately, your directions for win2003 and webdav with onenote 2007 work only, if there is anonymous access to the webdav directory and no ssl activated. Do you have maybe any suggestions, how to configure win2003 to work with onenote via webdav, if you need to use an authentification method (none of them works now with onenote..) and if you would like to use SSL?? Thanks so much! Furthermore, I've included a link into a ms forum thread discussing this topic: http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.onenote&mid=07481451-cb80-4a7b-9461-78a323866586 Thanks again!
