The Foundation of Your New Datacenter!

Hello everyone. I am Radhesh Balakrishnan, director of System Center and Virtualization Marketing, and I head up the Private Cloud Computing Infrastructure Initiative. This is a very exciting time for me, Microsoft, our customers and the industry as a whole. We are on the verge of a computing revolution by taking existing technology to new heights via virtualization. The dynamic capabilities of virtualization open new avenues to customers large and small, and we’re planning to help customers take it even further via an ever expanding partner ecosystem called the Dynamic Datacenter Alliance (DDA) and our no-cost Dynamic Datacenter Toolkits. The combination of the DDA and our toolkits will enable you to quickly and easily deploy the infrastructure for your private cloud. One toolkit is focused on the hosters of the world (DDTK-H), which is in market today, and the other is focused on enterprises (DIT-SC).

At MMS 2009, Bob Kelly announced a vision of the dynamic datacenter and how the toolkits will bring that vision to life. The toolkits provide partner-extensible, turn-key solutions consisting of a self-provisioning portal, admin portal and guidance to build a healthy virtualization “fabric” of Windows Server 2008 R2, Hyper-V, System Center, etc.). Building on Microsoft’s vision to deliver seamless and dynamic IT, I see this as the one-stop-shop to build and deploy on-demand, utility-type of services for our hosting partners and enterprise customers.

To add to this overall effort, the Dynamic Datacenter Alliance will bring together a collection of top notch partners, such as hosters, system integrators, hardware manufacturers and software vendors, who are working on rich integration with our toolkits.

As we progress down this journey together I intend to keep you well informed.

Cheers,

Radhesh
