Geek Speak: New ASP.NET Starter Kit Question

Hi everyone,

Here is today’s question.  If you were writing a starter kit for ASP.NET 2.0, what kind of application would that be?  Some existing starter kits are on https://www.asp.net. Would it be something fun for personal use? or for business use?  Let me know.

Small ecommerce site with login. Should show a catalogue with admin facilities, how shopping carts work (so, sessions etc...). Could also provide web service access...

A shopping cart would be done with the profile provider now I would say :)

My vote would be something fun like an image-dump or a amihotornot type site..

Try a Wiki application - useful for programmers, should demonstrate lots of things in ASP.NET including membership, master pages, personalization, perhaps mobile + compact framework?

I'll agree that something highlighting personalization and theming would be great... one option that I thought of immediately (Wiki) was already mentioned), but what about a content management system of some sorts, just something simple. This too would show off all of the key features of ASP.NET 2.0.

    Cheers.

I'd personally like to see something that demonstrates an effective use of skinning with user controls and CSS sheets (where users can choose skins and save in cookies)...

Add a Wiki to an ASP.NET Content Management System like CommunityServer.Org

How about a starter kit on how to use the Enterprise Library with ASP.NET 2.0. That is when the version of the Enterprise Library is released for .NET 2.0.
