Windows Azure Challenge 2012 - Imagine Cup Winners

I had an amazing time at the Windows Azure finals. I’d seen some of the entries leading up to the finals and I made a bee-line to the see the winners of the challenge. I wish I had more time to see all the Windows Azure solutions but there were 77 finalists and 35 using Windows Azure!

The Klein Team, the first Algerian team to make the Imagine Cup finals, built an application that helped people with diabetes and their carers. I spoke to the team and it was obvious their passion shone through and they all had stories of people they knew who could benefit from this solution and had great ideas for what's next.

Team Complex, the Romanian runner up in this category, built a very rich web application that unites individuals, companies and NGOs in a fun, social way to get them involved in social causes they are passionate about. The application successfully demonstrated how you can use Windows Azure to quickly share, store and collaborate on seeded ideas and track their progress. Team Virtual Dreams Azure from Brazil, multiple winners at the Imagine Cup with their impression learning solution. Project Eureka enables teachers to turn lesson plans into interactive content for students’ phones, PCs and tablets. The demonstration and video impressively blended a rich UI which could transfer content, integrate with Office and manage classroom content without a controller using Kinect.
