Windows Live SkyDrive
Storage 'in the cloud' anyone? Just sign up for the beta of Windows Live SkyDrive and you'll get 500Mb.
The beta is just for the US, the UK and India (but all you have to do is change your Windows Live (Hotmail) profile to have a US address and you'll get it).
Here's what the announcement from the SkyDrive team says about it:
This is a feature update, including the following:
· An upgraded look and feel – new graphics to go along with your new features!
· “Also on SkyDrive” – easily get back to the SkyDrives you’ve recently visited
· Thumbnail images – we heard you loud and clear, and now you can see thumbnails of your image files
· Drag and drop your files – sick of our five-at-a-time upload limit? Drag and drop your files right onto your SkyDrive
· Embed your stuff anywhere – with just a few clicks, post your files and folders anywhere you can post html
Enjoy,
Dave.

Paul, Sorry for the delay (been on holiday). I've just tried this - create a folder to share, I got offered my Hotmail contacts list, I picked who I wanted to share with, and sent a link via email. All worked fine. So, I'm afraid I can't really help you. Can I suggest you ask the question in the SkyDrive team' blog (http://skydriveteam.spaces.live.com)? Dave.Anonymous

I tried Skydive out. It looks very similar to Sharepoint. This must be the consumer version with Sharepoint technology behind it. One feature with Sharepoint, Office 2003 & higher documents can be edited and saved real-time without manually downloading and uploading. Skydive doesn’t seem to have that feature. Maybe I’m not doing something right?Anonymous

When I try to create permissions for folders for specific people "By Name" I assume SkyDrive is supposed to pull Contacts from either Live Hotmail or Live Messenger. Both of those have my contacts listed but Skydrive still sees no-one and says I have no contacts in my "Address Book". I tried it with the old versions and it still doesn't work. All I can do is either make the folders public or totally private to me. I have a Live Space set up and my Friends are listed there, too. I will add that none of these friends have yet set up a Live ID. Does that make a difference? What am I doing wrong?
