Windows Vista /WinFX Workshop for ISVs
Tomorrow we kick-off the local Windows Vista readiness to the Belgian ISV Community with the first run of the EMEA Windows Vista Touchdown Full 3-day Training. This invitation-only training will be delivered by Peter Himschoot, Microsoft Regional Director for Belgium. More details on this training and the next run can be found here. If you're interested to join this training let me know.
During this workshop attendees will get an overview of:
- the UI design enhancements in Windows Vista;
- security features such as improved firewall, Windows® Service Hardening, and Windows Internet Explorer® 7 enhancements;
- deployment features that reduce complexity, time, and costs;
- information management capabilities that enable users to find documents, e-mail messages, and other information in seconds—and utilize that information in the most intuitive way possible;
- sharing capabilities that allow two or more users—directly connected—to share files, applications, nearby projectors, or an Internet connection;
- fast startup that improves performance by recovering from sleep mode in only a few seconds;
- increased reliability through prevention and fixes for known hangs and crashes;
- an easy-to-navigate user interface named Windows Aero™ that increases user productivity from earlier Windows versions;
The attendees will also do some hands-on labs on the Windows Presentation Foundation, the Windows Communication Foundation and the Windows Workflow Foundation. All attendees will also receive 3 books at the workshop:
- Programming Windows Presentation Foundation - O’Reilly Media – ISBN: 0596101139
- Programming INDIGO - MS Press – ISBN : 0735621519
- Presenting Windows Workflow Foundation SAMS - ISBN: 0672328488
Despite the examples and hands-on labs of this workshop will mostly be based on Windows Vista beta 2, these books are all based on pre-WinFX beta 2 builds. Especially for WPF this could be a starter's problem. Check the authors' site for updates on the samples.
