How Adobe Products (Not) Support Windows Vista
Cara Cassidy on the Adobe Creative Solutions PR blog points to a newly released FAQ - posted by Adobe - highlighting Adobe product support for Windows Vista. Have a look at the .pdf file to check if the Adobe product you're using has support for Windows Vista and how it runs on Windows Vista.
After having a closer look at the document it turns out that only 3 products do support Windows Vista:
- Flash Player 9
- Photoshop Elements 5.0.2
- Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0.2
But that most other Adobe products Install and run with minimal known issues on Windows Vista.
I only have two Adobe products installed. So far I haven't encountered any problems with Flash Player 9, which is fully supported. After a couple of retries Adobe Acrobat 8 installed and runs. That said: Adobe expects to release an update to the free Adobe Reader in the first half of 2007 to support Windows Vista.
Find out about any known issues by searching the Adobe knowledgebase via this link.

Thanks John for your comments and sharing your thoughts. I agree that new software "can" support older software. However shipping an operating system is -IMO- not just shipping "software". Anyway, it's good to see that most Adobe apps run fine on Windows Vista and that some will receive minor updates soon. It would be even better if any of the Adobe apps would appear soon on the Windows Vista compatible applications list (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsvista/aa905104.aspx). Currently 100+ applications have been certified for Windows Vista, but none of Adobe ...Anonymous

Barry, I haven't tried to install this software on Windows Vista myself. But Adobe has already released free updates to Adobe Photoshop Elements (version 5.0.2) and Adobe Premiere Elements (version 3.0.2) to deliver full compatibility with Windows Vista. Have a look at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/ for the download.Anonymous
