Collaboration - we all have something to share
Brenda was recently quoted in the Fryup on ComputerWorld with regards to the story behind SuperHappyDevHouse New Zealand.

Yup. We all have something to share. Even at Microsoft we have Open Source projects under way.
In the New Zealand community, we want to help you reach your potential - such projects are a great way to get your head around a technology. Recent examples where New Zealanders have been contributing to Open Source solutions include BackgroundMotion and the Community Kit for Sharepoint (CKS) - hey look there is a user group edition too!
The first SHDH was a great event, so watch out for phase two where there should be more mixing and mingling of ideas...

Microsoft are definitely starting to embrace the open source/community world. In addition to the open source projects Darryl mentions, the team at Simpl are also actively working with the Microsoft World Wide Health team based in Redmond on two health intiatives being actively "marketed" by Microsoft around the world. Both are hosted on Microsoft's CodePlex site. The first is the Health Connection Engine (HCE), http://www.codeplex.com/hce, and the second is an implementation of the Integrating the Healthcare Exterprise (IHE) Cross Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) profile which will help Healthcare ISVs connect incorporate SOA-style integration into their products, http://www.codeplex.com/ihe.
